THE SOPRANOS — SEASON 6, ESPISODE 5 . . . "MR. & MRS. JOHN SACRIMONI REQUEST . . . "
"Even Cinderella didn't cry," Phil Leotardo tells the boys at Allegra "What the Fuck Does That Have to Do With Cold Medication?" Sacrimoni's wedding. Of course, that's not even remotely true, but the point is clear. And despite Tony's sympathy for sensitive mob bosses, Johnny Sack is written off as a tearful weakling. Still, that's nothing compared to the shit Vito and his . . . a . . . ma . . . zing . . . police getup are in for, if he's still alive. Somewhere in Cambridge tonight, Harvey "Manliness" Mansfield was having a field day.
But how the fuck did that tacky-ass wedding cost $450,000? Did they serve diamonds for dessert? Or perhaps Johnny was including the cost of his security detail. In any event, total ripoff. Should have had AJ plan that shit.
Comments:
Sign on the catering hall said "Leonard's" - was that "Leonard's of Great Neck", the epitome of 60s over-the-top glitz? The tackier the wedding, the more it costs. I think Ginny said 400 guests, so $1000 a head is pretty fancy, but not impossible at all. All the flowers, the liquor - that band alone could cost $100,000 - and then the little extras that their lifestyle requires like bulletproof glass.... Loved the anorexic sister of the bride, by the way. And AJ's smartass date.
Yeah, I don't expect to see Vito sitting in front of Satriale's any more - I think he's on a bus out to San Francisco where he can pursue his pleasures... or he's dead. Or those guys who saw him will be, very soon. Whose guys were they, by the way?
But meanwhile, the Skip is pretty fucked up - first he can't even bend down to take his shoes off without nearly passing out, then he acquieses to Johnny about killing Frankie Valli even though he doesn't want to get involved, and he ends up beating up that nice muscleguy for no reason, just to show he's not soft? But then he Bada Bing's all over the bathroom -clearly he's not ok. T may have to retire.

maybe T *should* retire, but i don't see that shit happening anytime soon...if anything, i think the last scene last night foreshadowed a sowing of discord among his capos followed by an unexpected/pre-emptive violent retaliation on the skip's part...also, something tells me vito ain't gonna make it to san fran, but i don't think his storyline is quite over yet.
the wedding was a pretty fantastic interlude, but, as one of the people i was watching the ep with observed, why on earth would johnny have that explicit convo with T in front of those marshals? are they on crack? is tony trying to set johnny up?
finally, a poster on a msgboard i read noted that the movie showing in the spatafore household when vito departs for the club was "imitation of life," whose plot revolves around a black girl trying to 'pass' as white...oh, the symbolism...

yeah, yeah I agree - we'll get to see some more of Vito (although that thought is kind of disgusting) ....
btw - you noticed the ep was directed by steve "pine barrens" buscemi, right?
